Submission limits are found in the "Manage members" settings, under "On Gallery" or "On Favourites". (You can limit both gallery and favourites and the settings are completely independent.)
I want to limit my members to 3 submissions per week in total, whatever folders they put them in
Choose "3 per week" from the dropdown next to "Featured" and then make sure all other folders are set to "Global Setting".
I want my members to be able to submit 2 a day to each folder
Click on "show all folders" then select "2 per day" for every folder.
I want my members to be able to submit as many deviations as they like, but only one a month to the featured folder
Choose "1 per month" from the featured dropdown and set all the other folders to "unlimited". (Technical part: one per month will then be your global setting but the other folders will override it.)
I want my members to be able to submit 10 a week but only 1 a month to the Contest Folder
From the featured dropdown select "10 per week". Then set Contest Folder to "1 a month" and all other folders to follow the "global setting". (Your Contest Folder submission won't count towards the 10-a-week limit.)
I want my members to be able to submit 5 a week, to any folder except featured, where they can't submit
Choose "5 per week" from the dropdown next to "Featured", select "not allowed" for submissions to featured and then make sure all other folders are set to "Global Setting".
I don't want a submission limit!
The default setting should be no limit ... but perhaps you had a limit and you want to take it off. Just select "Unlimited" from the dropdown next to "featured" and then make sure all other folders have "global limit" selected.
There should be an option for admins & group creators to review the things posted in Groups on DeviantArt.
Something similar (doesn't have to be exactly the same) to how approving a post works for Facebook Groups.
Plus the 10 limits a day obviously isn't working well for many members on DeviantArt cos' it applies to an entire Group (including all the folders and sub folders with in the group). ie: One member can only submit 10 items to any One Group in a single day (doesn't matter which folder or sub folder it goes into).
And the above applies even if they are an admin or they are the Group founder.

Someone please help me fix this. I just want my members to be able to submit two deviations a day.
I went in after I first noticed a problem, and saw the change in the submission limit. So I reset my folders to featured not allowed and I believe abstract is my first folder in alphabetical order to 2 per day, then the rest to global setting. Which I thought is how you do it. I could be wrong. I probably am. I'd just like for members to submit two pieces a day and none to the featured folder.
for my group is bad because I do a lot of submissions in one take and then I leave the group alone for a time. Like 100 one day and nothing more for days...
maybe with low submission is easier to recover it...
That's why I don't agree with limiting founders or co-founders. They should be allowed more than ten a day, but someone had spoken to a customer service rep who said they had conducted research and found that "most groups only add a few deviations to a group. Ten is more than generous". I can understand restricting members, but not the people who actually run the group.
I've not been able to fix it yet. I just had the same member I noticed a few nights ago submit four to one folder instead of two. I'm getting a little annoyed that I can't fix my group how I want it fixed.

I know this is an old question but I thought I'd answer it just in case, or in case another person has the same problem C:
Here's what I'm having a problem with right now...
In a group I help to run, All-World-Works, I current have the Global Submission Limit at 1 per week as there are about 50,000 people in the group.
No one is allowed to submit into the Featured Folder, while every other folder has the limit applied.
I don't know what exactly is wrong, but it seems that the system is ignoring that limit entirely and allowing members to submit as much as they want.
Worse yet is that I also have all the individual folders set to the Global setting as well, with 'week' selected.
I know the Members are, or at least should be set up correctly, and are set in that way.
Contributors, Moderators, Co-Founders, and the Founder have a few different settings, would those settings affect the regular members?
How do I fix it to where we only receive one submission, period, per person per week?
I know my group members and I are tired and frustrated with having to decline almost 20 or so pieces at once from a person who had selected nearly their entire gallery to place into our group.
Go to where it says submit to featured, and allow it for that moment to bring up a separate menu.
It'll display the global submission limit from there to where you can change it.
Each tier of members including the Co-Founders, Contributors, Moderators, regular Members, and the Founder have this option.
I assume the Featured folder = default/global settings
That being the case, I want NO ONE to post in the Featured Folder, while everyone can submit 2 images a week total anywhere else. How would that work?
I have it that each folder is 2 a week, but that sounds like they can post 2 in every folder (I have like 5 folders)... so would they end up being able to post 10 images if they submitted in random folders? Since that is what I don't want to happen. >.<
Otherwise, you'd have to do trial and error I guess. XD

All of my other folders are set to Global Setting, but there's also a dropdown next to it where you choose per day/month/etc. What do we do with this dropdown? Do we leave it per day? That doesn't make sense if the global setting is 1 a week.
As many groups did, we decided to accept no more than 1 submission per day from each member. But each time we set "Featured" submission limit as "1 per day" and then save, it automatically turns back to "Unlimited".
Is this a bug, or are we skipping something?
Does anyone have the same problem?

I just wondered if you turned on global submissions, will it be, for example, only 10 submissions to that whole folder in one day per member, or as the group as a whole?
I was considering putting on a limit as I like members of my group to submit no more than 10 per day...but if that means only 10 in total throughout the group per day, then I won't bother.
Let me know someone! I'd hugely appreciate it.
