Stash Updates

Thu Sep 15, 2011, 12:35 PM by Pachunka:iconpachunka:
Project Name: NAME HERE
Type: Beta
Current State: In Testing

Hi all!

We’re making a lot of changes to Stash over the next few days.

Are you new to Stash? Find out more about it here: devbug.deviantart.com/journal/…

So, what's new?
The first set of changes: editing stash items.

Now, whenever you visit one of your stash items, you’ll be able to edit it right away.
:bulletred: Click any item in your stash, you’ll be in “edit mode” right away
:bulletred: All edits are auto-saved
:bulletred: All layout has been tidied up (and will be even more over the coming days!)
:bulletred: As before, the item will not appear in your gallery until you click Submit while My deviantART Gallery is checked as one of the options

You can visit the ‘public’ version of the stash item, and see what everyone else sees, by copying/pasting the fav.me URL in the header.

Kudos as always to kouiskas and his team for putting the amazing Stash tech together!

We’re still on the lookout for bugs, so keep up the good work with sending in those bug reports.

More changes will be coming soon to the Stash homepage, the Stash header, then later on: the mysterious sta.sh domain, Projects, Writer, Muro, and some top-secret cool stuff. Stay tuned!

I just accidentally just deleted everything in my stash- only by pressing the wrong button. How can I retrieve them in my trash or whatever?

Sta.sh Writer is having SOOO many problems when it comes to formatting... it's been a nightmare.  It's gotten to the point to where even though I worked so hard on formatting a particular piece, the next time I open up my file, the formatting jumbled up!  I often add HTML codes that are acceptable on DA including subscripts and superscripts, and there are even times when I add a code (note, I'm adding it correctly) that it will show up on the actual preview version  (even though, the same exact code that I used elsewhere in the writing doesn't display the same problem).

Also, I must note that Sta.sh Writer has other bugs, one in which is the most inconvenient when it comes to writing.  When I need something to display not exactly in the center, or left or right alignment, and I am viewing it in edit mode after spacing out a line several spaces..  it always looks different in preview mode, and also different in the saved draft version.  Basically, what I'm experiencing is 'What I see when I type isn't always what I'm going to get'

I think that if problems like these don't get fixed soon... I won't be using Sta.sh Writer anymore and will be writing my literature elsewhere, converting to .pdf, then submit the .pdf to my gallery

Hiya! I'm sorry to hear that :(

Have you tried the Edit HTML mode? Of course it should all be working fine but when you think it isn't or won't, that might help to right it. :D You can find it in the "Edit" menu!

In any case, you can report each bug to the Help Desk. If you describe it in as much detail as you can and include a screenshot if necessary, my colleagues can try to reproduce it so it can be fixed!

I hope that helps

Thank you for your response, and I'll give that a try.  Perhaps if I plug in the codes that are having problems showing in HTML mode, I can get it to work.  But if things aren't working still, I'll go ahead and report the bug to Help Desk with screenshots  ^_^

So this might be already know, but it seems like some of my pictures in Stashe seem to not be displaying properly, I was messing around with different colour palettes for a character when I noticed that some of my pictures although edittable, didn't display the large picture in their particular section.

Is this just some random bug or is this a little bit more well known? I rather not lose those drawings if I can.

Btw how to add a preview image for Stash Writer? Like when you submit fics, you can choose preview image, but i couldn't find it for Stash Writer.

I would love to know that too. Come on, admins, help us out or add it in the new site changes please, it's a REAL pain in the rear to have to upload a fic with italicized parts in it, have the italics saved in St.ash, but not be able to add a preview image. And then, if you upload without st.ash, sure you can add a preview image, but you have to add EVERY SINGLE < i> TAG. It gets rather annoying when I have a deviation like [this] that switches between Italics and Regular text.

Hmm, I'm having problems with keywords in stash - they don't seem to work at all. For instance this deviation here [link] which was submitted using stash I've tried copying and pasting all keywords and part of the keywords but no matter what happens the DA search engine/bar won't pick it up, and it doesn't seem possible to ever find it if people don't come across my page

Guys, having REAL issues updating existing deviations with new descriptions. I'm clicking the blue "edit" button, making my changes (minor as they are) then being completely frustrated by the 1, 2, 3 buttons that do nothing, and have no advice tool tips.... pressing the "save" button unhelpfully placed in the very top right corner does nothing, equally clicking "publish" again does nothing. I'm having to physically refresh the deviation page from my browser to view the updates.

Messy. Very very messy  not to mention frustrating, confusing and slow.

Please tell me this is being looked at and worked on??

Using Foxy V.6.0.2 with only a few basic addons installed.

I love it! The only problem is, a while ago I submitted a literature piece to my stash, since it was unfinished (I work on quite a few different computers so I saved it purely to stash, forgetting to make a back-up of it via email). Now, that literature piece has somehow turned into a Journal, and the content deleted, save the title. :( Does anyone know why this is, or if I'm able to recover it at all?

This is a known bug, as far as I know, I've had the same problem before. I copied the text and pasted it somewhere else / posted it as deviation straight away.

woohoo! :woohoo:

I haven"t tried it in a while... will there be an option to submit a whole stash at one time? instead of submitting every item one by one?

Before when you went to edit something, and then clicked save, it would then redirect you to the deviation. Now, since it's auto saved, it doesn't and you keep being in the edit mode and have to go to the actual deviation through your gallery or copy pasting the url (if you remember it)...

I'm not sure if it's because of Stash, but when I submitted my work through it, I lost the ability of editing/deleting it. :O

Think you can add the ability to mass edit tags and descriptions of items in the same stack? (I see they get stacked anyway)

1> There's a Typo in the blog ^^; Arey you ready :paranoid:

2> Uh did you guys take away the "Add Text" option or is this a Bug? If it isn't a bug will you be putting it back? I was using Stash for my written *Typed* Deviations :crying:

It might not be until stash goes out of beta for all I know, I think it depends on how long they want to keep working on the writer for, separately. And that I wouldn't know actually. ^^;
