Sta.sh

Tue Sep 20, 2011, 12:27 PM by Pachunka:iconpachunka:
Project Name: NAME HERE
Type: Beta
Current State: In Testing

Hi again, beta crew. :salute:

As mentioned recently, we’re making a bunch of changes to the new Stash...

If you're new to Stash, find out more about it here: devbug.deviantart.com/journal/…

The latest changes: Sta.sh is now a separate section of the deviantART Network - with its own header, and its own look.

Here's a sneak peek!

"Stash" no longer exists on your Submit menu, but instead can be gotten to one of two ways:
:bulletblue: You can pick "Sta.sh" from your main profile menu.. next to Logout and Settings
:bulletblue: Or, you can type http://sta.sh into your address bar

Note: to switch back to deviantART, pick the "deviantART" item from the Sta.sh main menu.

Switching over and back:

Other than that, the Stash functionality remains much the same - Drag and drop your files, then click one to set options and publish it!

p.s. The Writer portion of the Stash will be coming back soon, with a rake of improvements - literature can still be submitted by dragging text files to your stash.

Hope you like this new round of changes - shout what you think!

I'm having trouble with Sta.sh. I drew something on the Muro to add to DeviantART. It used to submit without any problems and would give me a category list. Just now I tried to put in the category, and that disappears as soon as I try it. Then the drawing itself won't submit onto the main page. This is very troubling. Why is it doing this? Is anybody else having this problem?

I'm liking Stash so far. It would be nice to have a Prints function on it though; even though no one sees your Stash unless you let them, it'd be a good place to hide stuff you make for dA friends, and if you'd like to make them a print, it can still be a surprise for them since they're hid in Stash. If that sounds incoherent, well . . . you'd make money on it, too, how about that? :D

Wait - :iconjarryplz: I just found the 'Sell Prints' option. If I choose to make a print, does . . . that make the image public, or does it still stay private?

sooo err. here is the situation. A few days ago I deactivated. Before doing so, I put all of my works (except 3 or 4) in storage.
After I reactivated, I wasn't able to unstore the deviations. Today I was able to. However, all the scrap ones seems to have been unstored but my main works weren't. I clicked the browse in my gallery, and it only showed me the ones I uploaded after reactivating and a few ones that I had already kept open. But when I go to 'manage deviations' there are no files stored in the storage (I checked a few times). Then I checked the Public section in manage deviations, and there were already the works that I had uploaded present there. I click one of them [link] and it opens in sta.sh section. I have no idea why it or my other works are there that I haven't used there. If I click Update they appear as new deviations (with say, submitted 1 second ago) with already the previous faves, comments and groups that they may be in included. And it also appears in watchers message centre since some saw it again and faved it. And they appear in the gallery browse mode as new and not as submitted before (so can't move them below in browse).

o____________________________________________________O

I really really hope it can be solved. It's really weird given now my old deviations would appear as new ones...and what not :iconfacepaelmemoteplz:
Thank you!

I liked the ability to load them all here first but I noticed that when I submitted to dA it allows for users to download the photos. I disable this option in the regular upload. I looked and looked and could not find a way to disable the download button from dA when I went back into edit. I deleted the photo before anyone saw it and downloaded it.

Will there be an option to disable downloads when submitting from Sta.sh?

The available space indicator is broken on Chromium 13.0.782.215; it will continue to say 2.0 GB available even if I've uploaded a large folder.
Also, the license panel is broken on the same browser (it won't expand correctly).

It definitely misses an option to buy an arbitrary amount of extra space. Some free extra space for paying dA members would be appreciated too.

What I would like to do with it: upload a whole trip worth of photos on it. "promote" the worthy ones to deviations and give my friends a link to see the whole batch.
How I'm doing it now: I'm posting the whole trip to Picasa and posting the worthy photos to dA. Pretty annoying.
Why I can't do it with sta.sh yet: my typical photo trip is anywhere 300mb to 4gb... also, picasa and facebook will automatically resize pictures, thus saving a lot of space, while sta.sh won't.

Oh.. My... Fella!! Ok, now this is a very screwy bug. I can upload to my stash. Works fine. I can chose folders in groups. Though not all folders are always showing up in all groups. HOWEVER... When I submit exclusively to a group, the submission stays in the stash, even though its auto accepted by the group. Then when I delete the files from the Stash to clear them, they are ALSO DELETED in the group!! ACK!! Squash that thing please, it makes stash totally unusable at this time.
Waves and hands out cookies,
Marion

Beta test programs such as Sta.sh which is still in testing is only available to beta testers, who require a premium membership. I believe that is the problem in your case.
Don't quote me on it though.:paranoid:

I was uploading some pictures to Sta.sh when I noticed something that might make editing easier. I took some pictures with my camera and immediately uploaded them but I realized that some of my picture's orientations were wrong. I was wondering if there might be a possibility of adding a function that lets us rotate our photos after uploading? It'd be easier than having to re-upload the photo after using my editing software to change things around. I hope I'm making sense. Thanks for letting me try this great program!

I have a bug to report!

Whenever I drag and drop files into the stash area, the image is not stored. Rather, the page automatically reverts to the image itself. Is this just me? I use Firefox. I had NoScript and Requestpolicy on the correct settings and everything.

It might be best to report this as a bug in the Bug Tracker page. It will reach the attention of the Alpha Testers faster. :)

Hi I'd love to update a Images information while it's uploading. In the old system I was able to use the time uploading for adding image information. It does not work for the stash... even though its encouraging thoughtful comments and saves allot of waiting time when uploading.
Maybe it's possible to bring this great feature back?

One thing I don't like: the fact that it's hard to get back to DA. I mean, it's no problem to get to sta.sh, but the suggestion for a "drop down" with the little arrow doesn't work for me. Nothing drops down, I have to type DA's URL in the address bar to get back to DA. Also, the little drop down arrow looks like a jpeg image, no me gusta.

And another thing I don't like: When I click on a Sta.sh item, it opens up like I want to edit the file, with name, description, tags, etc. I just want to open a file to share the link, or view it myself. I don't necessarily want to edit it every time I click on it. I would like for the image's URL to show up in the address bar when I click to it from Sta.sh, not having to copy the URL from the upper-right corner. And when I view images, they're always initially zoomed out. I have my DA setting for Zoomed In, so this is annoying too.

Other than that, yeah Sta.sh is basically the same. :B Looking forward to the Writer. I hope it's amazing. :B

I don't know. I'm not a big fan of the white theme. It's harder on the eyes, and It's not "deviantart". But, I don't know. As long as the entire site doesn't go white, I'm fine here.
